Indian Institute of Advanced Study SHIMLA

Shimla was once the summer capital of India.
Indian Institute of Advanced Study is not only a tourist attraction center in Shimla but also a prestigious research institute. The building was originally built as home for Lord Dufferin, 1884 Viceroy of India. It was called the Lodge.

Was converted to Institute 1964 by then president of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Many historic decisions have been taken here during the Indian independence movement.
It is said that India-Pakistan agreement was also signed here on this table.

After independence, this building was renamed as Rashtrapati Niwas and was used as a summer retreat for the President of India till 1964.
A must see place in Shimla. Should not be missed.
